Student Online Protection Act
Effective July 1, 2021, school districts will be required by the Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA) to provide additional guarantees that student data is protected when collected by educational technology companies, and that data is used for beneficial purposes only (105 ILCS 85).

The Lake County Regional Safe School takes student privacy seriously. The Regional Safe school collects personal data of every student a that we serve for educational, behavior and medical purposes. The data that is collected is listed below.
Student General Information (Name, Address, Birthdate)

Student Email (Provided by the Regional Safe School. Has no identifiable information.)
Student Medical information
Student Gender, Race, Ethnicity
Student Parent/Guardian Information
Counseling Services
Court Services
At no time is any of this information shared to any third party affiliate or non-affiliate of the program.
This data is used to for many facets of operations for the Regional Safe School. This data is used to track student progress, student counseling services and behavioral tendencies, medical needs of the student and parent/guardian information of the student.
Information that is gathered is only shared with the student’s home school district for the purposes of evaluation back into the district’s education plan unless orders from court services require access to the student’s records.
