About the event
Participants learn a 3-step conversation protocol that motivates inquiry, strengthens SEL skills and fosters critical thinking in adults and students. This course is relevant for all school administrators, especially department chairs and staff developers. Participants will:
- Participate in an authentic conversation and uncover innovative ways to use the protocol to explore controversial topics with faculty.
- Examine how the protocol strengthens inquiry, SEL and critical thinking skills
- Participate in an online adult learning community at Teach Different where they practice the protocol with other adult educators.
- Develop a conversation plan to implement with a small group of faculty at their home school
To support the inquiry focus, it is recommended that participants secure a copy of Experience Inquiry by Kimberly Mitchell and read "Strategy #3: Ask More, Talk Less". Excerpts from this section of the book will be provided at the workshop with permission from the author. The conversation protocol and adult online learning community are provided by Teach Different - a Chicagoland-based professional development company. All participants receive ongoing free access to this online community during and after the course is over.
The pre-work and post-work time has been estimated at 3 hours.
